Solid State Drive (SSD)
Q1: Why is my newly purchased SSD not detected?
A1-1: Please check whether the data cable, power cable, and slot are properly connected.
A1-2: Right-click the Start menu > go to “Disk Management” > locate the SSD > right-click > select “New Simple Volume” to initialize the drive.
Q2: After cloning Windows 10 to a new SSD with no error messages, why can’t the computer boot successfully?
A2: This is due to a Windows licensing restriction. If your Windows 10 was obtained through an upgrade, the license is tied to the original hardware. Installing the SSD on another machine may trigger a blue screen or fail to activate. A clean installation of an authenticated Windows 10 will not encounter this issue.
Q3: Can I use a SATA 6 Gb/s SSD with a motherboard that supports only SATA 1.5 or 3 Gb/s?
A3: Yes, but the data transfer speed will be limited by the motherboard and will not reach SATA 6 Gb/s performance.
Q4: Why doesn’t the SSD speed match the advertised specification?
A4: Performance can vary depending on system hardware, environment, and whether an OS is installed. These variances are considered normal.
Q5: How do I install Microsoft Windows 7 on a PCIe NVMe SSD?
A5: Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and newer versions of Ubuntu and Linux distributions include native support for PCIe NVMe drives and can be installed directly.
For installing Windows 7, please refer to the following link or contact Microsoft:
https://support.microsoft.com/zh-tw/help/2990941
Q6: Why is the usable capacity of my SSD slightly less than indicated on the packaging?
A6: This is normal. The discrepancy is due to system calculations and allocation of space for firmware, software, and data management, which help enhance performance and prolong lifespan.
Q7: An error occurred during OS installation.
A7: Please delete all partitions and disconnect all other drives, leaving only the target SSD connected. Enter BIOS, restore default settings, enable AHCI and UEFI modes, save the configuration, and reinstall the OS.
Q8: How do I install a heatsink?
A8: Please refer to the installation guide provided. If product damage, installation errors (e.g., misalignment or poor adhesion), or other issues occur, do not forcibly disassemble the unit. Doing so may cause physical damage. Contact customer service and return the product for proper handling.
External Solid State Drive (External SSD)
Q1: Why is my external SSD not working when first connected to a computer?
A1: We recommend formatting the drive before first use to avoid potential compatibility issues.
Q2: Why is the data transfer speed slower than what’s shown on the official website?
A2: Please check whether your computer uses a USB 3.0 (usually blue) or USB 2.0 (usually black) port. USB 3.0 is required for optimal performance.
Q3: Why is my external SSD not working with the PlayStation 5?
A3: When using with a PS5 for the first time, formatting is required.
Go to: “Settings” > “Storage” > “USB Extended Storage” > “Format as USB Extended Storage” > click “…” and select “Format as exFAT”.
Q4: I just bought the ED238 device. How do I format it to exFAT on Windows?
A4: Please follow these steps:
1. Right-click the Start icon (or press Windows + X) → Select Disk Management
2. Plug in the ED238 and make sure it appears in the list
3. Right-click the ED238 drive → Select Format → Choose exFAT → Click OK
4. Done!
Q5: How do I use the magnetic ring included with the EDM38?
A5: Peel off the adhesive included in the package and stick it to the center of your phone or case for magnetic mounting.
Memory Card
Q1: Why do I receive a “Write Protected” message when transferring files to the memory card?
A1: Please check the write-protection switch on the SD adapter. It may be set to “lock.”
Q2: Why is my computer not detecting the card reader?
A2: Please ensure the card reader is functioning correctly and the card is properly inserted.
Q3: Why is the file transfer speed to my computer inconsistent?
A3: Transfer speeds depend on the card reader and USB port specifications of your device.
Q4: Unable to format the memory card.
A4: Please try formatting using a different reader or device. If the issue persists, use the SD Formatter tool available at:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
If the problem remains unresolved, please contact us for further assistance.
Q5: What are the differences between SD/SDHC/SDXC speed and performance classes?
A5: Please refer to the official SD card class definitions, including speed classes and UHS standards.
DRAM (Memory)
Q1: Why won’t my computer boot after installing new memory?
A1-1: Ensure the memory module is compatible with your system. Please refer to the compatibility list.
A1-2: Disconnect power, remove the memory, and check for dirt or oxidation on the gold connectors. Clean gently with an eraser.
A1-3: Reinstall the memory and ensure it is firmly seated in accordance with your motherboard’s manual.
A1-4: Try installing only the suspected faulty module to isolate the issue.
A1-5: If possible, test the module in another system to determine whether the problem lies with the memory or the motherboard.
If the issue persists, please return the product for repair.
USB Flash Drive
Q1: Why is USB flash drive transfer speed slower than external SSDs?
A1: External SSDs typically use NTFS file systems and have an internal SSD-to-USB controller, whereas USB drives often use FAT32 or exFAT, which operate differently.
Q2: Why is my USB flash drive sometimes not recognized?
A2: Try connecting to a different USB port, update the USB driver, or reformat the device to resolve the issue.
